PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF · up to 8 images, 30 MB each, 90 MB and 60 megapixels per batch. Animated images and SVG are not converted.

Detected from the file contents, even when the filename is misleading.

WebP and AVIF appear only when this browser can encode and read them with transparency.

Conversion happens in your browser. It keeps the displayed dimensions and applies the photo orientation, but re-encoding can change file size and remove embedded metadata. This tool does not compress by itself.

Choosing an output format

PNG keeps transparency and sharp-edged graphics, while JPEG is useful for photographs and does not support transparency. WebP often makes smaller web images. BMP is a large, widely compatible uncompressed format.

Changing format re-encodes the image; changing only the filename extension does not. Animated inputs may lose animation when exported as a still image, so check the warning and preview.

Common questions

Will the converted image always be smaller?

No. File size depends on image content, output format and quality. Use the image compressor when reducing bytes is the main goal.

What happens to transparency in JPEG?

JPEG has no transparency. The selected background color fills transparent areas before encoding.

Want the steps behind the result?

Compare PNG, JPEG, WebP and other common image formats, understand their tradeoffs, and choose an output that suits the image instead of just changing its extension.
